Nestlé Removes Artificial Colors From U.S. Product Line
Nestlé USA has removed all certified artificial colors from its food and beverage portfolio, achieving its goal of fully eliminating synthetic dyes by the middle of this year. This milestone reflects the company’s broader commitment to cleaner ingredients and healthier product offerings.
The Nesquik and DiGiorno maker announced in June 2025 that more than 90% of its U.S. portfolio was already free from synthetic dyes. The company then focused on removing the remaining artificial colors or reformulating recipes with natural alternatives.
Nestlé emphasized that the transition involved extensive research and testing to ensure consumers continue enjoying the same taste, quality, and product experience. The company aimed to make these changes without compromising brand trust.
“This work didn’t happen overnight,” Marty Thompson, CEO of Nestlé USA, said in a recent blog post. He highlighted that years of progress and ongoing innovation helped make this transition possible across multiple product categories.
Nestlé USA Completes Major Ingredient Transformation
Thompson noted that Nestlé’s product teams moved quickly to reformulate popular products. For example, the Nesquik team successfully updated strawberry-flavored products using colors derived from natural sources.
In just five months, Nestlé’s foodservice division also transitioned more than 20 Nestlé Vitality beverage products to natural color sources. The company maintained quality, flavor, and consistency throughout the reformulation process.
Nestlé USA confirmed that reformulated products have already started appearing on store shelves nationwide. Consumers can expect to see more products featuring cleaner ingredient labels in the coming months.
The company believes this move strengthens its ability to meet growing consumer demand for transparency and healthier ingredients in everyday food and beverage products.
