Greenfield Milling Opens Advanced New Facility in Utah

Greenfield Milling Utah

DENVER – The new flagship flour mill in Richmond, Utah, operated by Utah Flour Milling LLC, now known as Greenfield Milling, has formally opened.

The now-completed Richmond mill will deliver a specialized pneumatic flour supply to a nearby Campbell Snacks facility, including Pepperidge Farm Goldfish cracker and Milano cookie production, for 20 years, according to Denver-based Greenfield. The Campbell’s Co., with its headquarters in Camden, New Jersey, owns Campbell Snacks.

According to Greenfield, the mill can produce up to 7,500 cwts of flour per day, processing hard wheat, soft wheat, whole wheat, and organic flours. According to the corporation, the facility can package bags weighing anywhere from two to fifty pounds and offers a variety of delivery choices to “ensure reliable nationwide supply.”

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Future Expansion Plans

On September 18, the Richmond mill hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening at the location. According to Greenfield, plans aim for the plant to be extended in 2026 with sophisticated blending and warehousing automation to increase capacity and satisfy growing consumer demand for bread mixes and ingredients.

Ground was broken on the $100 million Richmond mill and mix facility in January 2024 by Utah Flour Milling, a joint venture between Denver-based PHM Brands’ Panhandle Milling and NIPPN Corp. NIPPN, one of the biggest flour milling companies in Japan, owns a small portion of the firm.

Established in 2022 by seasoned businessmen John Mason and Bryan Ledgerwood, Greenfield Milling says it wants to lead the mix-integrated flour industry and is attempting to establish a nationwide presence in the retail, snack, and baking sectors. According to Panhandle, the business has now incorporated Panhandle Milling, another PHM affiliate.

Strengthening Position in the Flour and Baking Industry

In related news, Greenfield said that it intends to lease some of the old Panhandle Milling assets, a producer of organic retail flour and bread mixes situated in Hereford, Texas, in order to further expand its operations.

Greenfield anticipates that the deal will strengthen its capacity to supply the bread industry with dry bake mixes, pizza dough, tortilla ingredients, and pancake mixes in traditional, organic, and gluten-free forms. “A multi-year supply agreement with a national bakery and restaurant supplier supports the arrangement,” Greenfield added.
